week3 reflection
In this week, I’ve learned about lesson plan again but specifically. For education course, lesson planning is one of the important part and it guides educators how to go and how to procedure the class. As we discuss in the class, “failing to plan is planning to fail”. I really agree with this. To make a lesson plan, it’s not that easy but it is the thing we must settle. Sir. Jasper discussed the semi-detailed lesson plan and I learned it already. However, for the learning activities, I didn’t know I should contain expected student’s behavior answer for before, middle and end of the class. I knew I should prepare questions for the students, but I didn’t know if we need to guess what the students will answer. For the activity, I exchanged the lesson plan with Math major classmate and her lesson plan was quite different with mine. Usually I contain title, subject, faculty, objectives, materials, time allocation, teacher’s task, student’s task and lastly reference. However, math major lesson plan was different. The lesson plan that I got contains title, subject, faculty, objectives, materials, but not time allocation. It contained teacher’s and student’s task but the type was different from mine. Mine is like a direction but hers was dialogue type. She expected the answers of students and procedure the lesson with that expectation. I think this is very nice part that I missed. However I think, she should contain the teacher’s action just in case if the students answer differently with her expectation. For example if the teacher ask, the answer is yes. What if the student answers no? It should contain the different preparation just in case. On the next time, I had great seminar with Rom Metila. From her, I could know the specific things that is needed when I make a lesson plan. I learned that I need to write a lesson script for introduction to activities, directions for task, statements and so on. Also lesson plain should be reflected to variety and it should be sequence. Not only that but also seatwork should be first before quiz. I should check my student’s level through seatwork and if my students reached the level, then I can give quiz. However, the students don’t reach the level, I need to discuss the topic again. This was important to learn as a future educator.
